Panini maker Hot Table is making a ‘difficult decision’ to close its Framingham location

FRAMINGHAM A panini restaurant that opened three years ago Shoppers world has closed its doors.

Hot table announced last week that the last operational day there would be November 9.

No one from Hot Table returned calls or emails requesting comment. But in the announcement, which was posted on the restaurant’s front door, management thanked its customers.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks for your continued support and loyalty,” the announcement reads. “It has been a pleasure to serve Framingham. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close this location.”

Hot off the press: A new panini shop is opening in Framingham’s Shoppers World

Hot Table was founded in Springfield in 2007. The Framingham location, which opened in 2021, was the eighth location. It now has 13 locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut, including one in the Apex Center in Marlborough and another in Franklin on the Franklin Village Square.

Hot Table president says chain is “kind of like Chipotle of paninis.”

When opening in Framingham, Hot Table Chairman John DeVoie told the Daily News that the chain was “kind of like the Chipotle of paninis.”

“We are the fast-casual side of the restaurant world,” he says. “It’s kind of somewhere between fast food and fine dining, where you get really fresh, high-quality food in a nice environment, served to you quickly.”

In the announcement, Hot Table said it hopes customers will come to the other locations.

“Thank you again for your support,” Hot Table said in the announcement. “We are very grateful for your trust and support, and we remain committed to providing the same great service you have come to expect from us.”

In April, the body of a Hot Table employee was found in the trash room behind the restaurant. The man, 30-year-old Anthony Junior Lopes, had “obvious trauma to his body,” according to authorities. His death is being investigated as an apparent homicide.
