Norfolk OPP have charged three people with drunken driving in recent days starting on November 8.

Officers were conducting a RIDE program on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe on Friday when they stopped a vehicle just before 11 p.m.

After testing the driver’s sobriety, officers were able to take him into custody without incident.

Police have charged a 50-year-old Brantford man with having more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on November 19.

On November 9, Norfolk OPP received a 911 call about a suspected impaired driver on Queensway East in Simcoe just after 10 a.m.

Officers located an unoccupied vehicle in West Street, Simcoe and subsequently took the driver into custody without incident at a nearby location. Police also confirmed the vehicle had previously been reported stolen in Norfolk County.

A 30-year-old Niagara Falls woman has been charged with having more than the legal limit of alcohol in her blood, dangerous driving, driving under suspension, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and theft of a motor vehicle.

She is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on December 17.

Meanwhile, Norfolk OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Nelson Street West in Port Dover on November 9 at approximately 12:32 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a sedan had struck a traffic sign and then fled the scene.

Officers located the vehicle at another address on Nelson Street West and took the driver into custody without incident.

A 47-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with driving under the influence. He will appear in Simcoe District Court on December 31.

Shoplifting investigation

Norfolk OPP are investigating a theft on November 8 at a business on Queensway East in Simcoe.

The theft occurred around 7:42 p.m. when a person entered the business, took a quantity of alcohol and then left without paying, police say.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s. He was wearing a white baseball hat, a blue and white Toronto Maple Leafs hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
