Weld County recognizes apprenticeship programs with Apprenticeship Week – Greeley Tribune

Weld County declared next week Apprenticeship Week to recognize the beneficial impact of apprenticeship programs on local employers and job seekers.

“Apprenticeships are a cornerstone of workforce development in Weld County,” Tami Grant, deputy director of the Department of Human Services, said in a news release. “These programs provide hands-on experiences, essential skills development and valuable job placement opportunities, paving a clear path to success for both youth and adults. We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to advancing innovation, diversity and opportunity within our workforce system.”

Employment Services of Weld County partners with 14 local businesses to provide training and mentorship opportunities for the next generation of workers. The province has registered apprenticeship programs for careers in the building and construction industry; life, natural and social sciences; personal care and service and protective services.

Weld County Employment Services’ work with these internship programs has earned them High Performing Board designation from the Colorado Workforce Development Council seven years in a row and is the only board in the state to do so, according to the news release.

“The internship program is so important for our young people. College is a path for some, but not for others. We need those people now who can be trained through apprenticeship programs to move this great province and this great nation forward,” Commissioner Scott James said in the release.
